Family First
Yesterday, I had the privilege of preaching again at Covenant Presbyterian Church, where I've served as the Youth Minister for the last three years. It's hard to know if the presence of the Holy Spirit was alive in the pews as the congregation listened to my message, but it received a wonderful response as everyone was leaving the church.
The praise was bittersweet however. Shortly after my sermon, Ken (my father-in-law, and pastor of CPC) announced to the congregation that I would be resigning from my position effective August 15th. With our second child on the way in the next 2-3 months, and my already over-full schedule - something had to go. And, as difficult as the decision was, my position at Covenant made the most sense for my family. Amanda and I have thought about this, and prayed about this for a few months now. The family dynamic makes it that much harder on us. I'll miss the youth and congregation dearly because they've become my extended family over the last seven years.
I'll still continue serving in my capacity as Campus Minister for Celtic Cross (our presbytery supported PC(USA) campus ministry at KSU) part-time.
Please keep Covenant in your prayers as they seek God's direction for the Youth Ministry going forward, and seek my replacement. Pray that they find the minister God desires for their youth ministry, that the transition occurs smoothly, and that the wounds of my leaving heal quickly. I think God is doing wonderful things at Covenant. Please also keep Amanda and I in your prayers as we also go through this transition time, and welcome a new life into our home!
Cheers.

Hello Racheal.
Yeah! My baby half-sister Adria delivered her own baby this morning at 8:57am. A healthy baby girl, Racheal. She weighed in at 6 lbs. and 4 oz. and has curly curly hair. :)
Amanda, Drew and I will travel down to Warner Robins tomorrow to spend some time with Adria & Rachael. We'll post pictures from the trip soon.
Congrats sis!

Field Trip: Lake Alatoona
Drew and Daddy recently took a field trip to the lake.
While we were there, we learned about the lake, boats, shells, birds, and other things.
Here's a few pictures from the trip.

Drew, shortly after arriving at lakeshore. A bit timid and unsure.

Uh oh... he just realized that's water in there...
This could be bad.

Cheers.

A Hiking We Will Go...
Drew, Millie and Daddy ventured out to Kennesaw Mountain Park, and Cheatham Hill for a little hike today. It was a gorgeous day for a hike. Mid-80's, and partly cloudy.
It was a little much to manage a two year old, and a dog by oneself, but never-the-less, Daddy managed. Here's a few pictures from the hike.

6 down, 3 to go...
Amanda is gracefully moving along in her pregnancy.
She's now 24 weeks, or 6 months pregnant. Here's the most recent picture of her at the neighborhood pool just before our 1st "Dive-In" movie.

Meet Manfred: "The Man-Van"
After living in complete denial for a few years, we decided to see if we could make pigs fly. We purchased the one thing we said we'd never own. A mini-van.
Turns out, they're quite comfy, and practical.
So, here's Manfred. Our new 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT.
Look out soccer moms. Daddy's grabbin' life by the horns.

Steve Jobs... on Dan's Job (D5 Conference)
Okay, so we didn't really go see Steve Jobs at the D5 conference. And we didn't even author this video, but the author (hat tip to Tim Schmoyer) is dead on.
Here, we find Steve answering a question from a man in the audience who asked for advice about his company. The reply Steve Jobs gave is an exact description of youth/campus ministry.
tech it out. huh huh. narf.
